Bows and Such

I have a dilemma, Nora will not keep bows and such in her hair. She finds them a nuisance and when she gets the chance she will pull them out even if it takes some of her hair with it. I think she looks great without them but sometimes I'd like the option to accessorize her outfit, jazz it up if you will and as you can tell from the picture that does not make her very happy. So I'm calling out to you fellow readers, friends, family, strangers to help me come up with some innovative way to get my child to do what I want. Rereading this, I find it sounds a little selfish and silly but I still will post to see if I can solve this frustration even if humiliation is the answer.

I don't have any experience dressing up toddlers yet..

but the thought of something light-weight might work. Maybe she'll forget it's there.

Hannah plays and pulls at her hair while she eats so bows are out of the question for me. Frown.

I have heard from some that you have to put bows in pretty much daily from birth so they think that the bow is supposed to be there.

I am not sure even that would work for my girls. But none of them has let me put bows in their hair till they were about 3. Lauren is just starting to like bows but will only keep them in half the day. So half the day she looks cute and then she pulls out the ponytail/braid/bow and has crazy hair.

good luck with that.

I have found with my kids that buzzing thier heads is a great solution. Oh wait I have no girls, so therefore I have no useful advice!! Sorry! Hey I guess you could offer Cash and Prizes!!!

O.K., as you know I have one girl! The moment she was born I put things in her hair, mostly headbands. Yes, I knew this was my only chance to have a little girl with bows. (I was right!) Everytime she would go to pull it out, I told her no. (I know, I am a bad mom!) It worked, almost too good. Now she has to have something in her hair everyday and she is in 4th grade!

compromise with her....work out a deal where she only has to have it in her hair when you leave the house...might work! Or you can always bribe her...or do like me and wait until she is older and will leave it alone!

I tell Annabelle that we are going to do princess hair and this works everytime but I have a genuine fear that she is going to be really vain because she likes to see what she looks like all the time so I don't know if that is the best advice but it works for me!

Unfortunatly I have the same issue with Tess. ALthough she has never let me put anything in her hair....ever. As for the oldest one she has always left stuff in but now must do it on her own which never really turns out very well. I kind of wish she wouldn't want anything in there at all. So you see we have come full circle.

Kaylee would never keep anything in her hair either and then all of the sudden she changed overnight. Maybe Nora will hit a stage where she wants pretty bows too. :)
I loved Marci's idea!

I like using the clear rubber bands for pony tails that you can get at the salon stores...they come out easily without pulling out hair- when go out and we put bows in, the clips can attach to the pony and she isn't as bugged with it being there...

As for your kids doing what you want- if you do find a cure for that PLEASE let me know?! ;0)
