Folding Bicycles

This has probably been around for some time now but in trying to find a suitable bicycle for me I came across these folding bikes. There is something about this that is so cool. No bike racks neccesary, how nice. Have any of you heard about these? I'm wondering if it would be a good bike to consider.

I love the two cruiser models they have. I'm so sad that they are all sold out. I just love the look of cruisers, old and new.

Shout Out to Bep

My sweet sister-in-law Bethany has a birthday today. I had to share a happy birthday shout out to her. She's an amazing mother and wife and has made it easy to be her sister-in-law. Love you Bep.

Hanging Them Up

I haven't shared with many that I had a goal to run a half marathon in Salt Lake City this year but I did. Well, my foot and ankle doctor advised me at my appointment the other day that it would be wise for me to stop running or else I would most likely end up in surgery. It actually didn't come as a hard blow. Everything he discussed with me seemed to be coming or I already knew yet it is still sad. For those of you who are runners or enjoy running you will understand. There is just something about it that is so appealing. I usually went early in the morning and would love to watch the sunrise and smell the fresh air from the sprinklers, (or bubbler systems our here in Vegas), being on all while getting a good workout. Now I want to get a bike soon and start a new form of excercise. There is just something about being outdoors when you workout. Could it be the feeling of being one with nature. A little sappy? Yes, but I know some of you must feel the same. So, I'm in the market now for a street bicycle. Preferably one that is red and shiny that will take me back to the days I first learned how to ride a bike. Minus the banana seat. I might be hanging up my running shoes but I could never stay away from staying active outside somehow.

New Website

I just learned from my sister that our church just launched a new website. It is all about the Savior Jesus Christ and finding faith in him. They have some wonderful articles, art and teachings of the Savior on the site. This is one to share and bookmark especially for Easter.

Mountain Rose Herbs

This is a fun site to explore. I love how most everything is organic. I think I'll be buying my seeds from here.

Planting Herbs

In looking to be more self sufficient this year I've decided to plant a kitchen herb garden. I thought some of these pretty planters would do just fine housing my herbs.

Nora's First

Nora was invited to a princess party today by a nursery friend from church. Nora has attended many a birthday parties but they have all been for cousins or other family members. So this was her first friend party. She thoroughly enjoyed it. Some of Nora's favorite things right now are puzzles and princesses. You would think that her mother would buy a princess dress since it happens to be a favorite. Nope. Not yet. But this party has inspired me to do better with supporting my child in her interests. Atleast she owns some pretty cool puzzles that she has already mastered. Please, don't mind that I brag.

Are You Prepared?

Today my mom nudged me to read a chapter in this book about stocking your pantry without draining your pocket. It was surprisingly witty and fun to read, along with great useful information. A great resource for any home. This will be my next book purchase. You can get it for a decent price here.

Easter Dresses

I found some pretty little dresses for Easter and wanted to share. I love feminine colors and fluffy skirts. I must be all girl. Check them out here, here, here and here.

Count on Grandma

Spencer's mom came into town this past weekend to help out with my new baby niece and Nora and Aubrey thoroughly enjoyed it. We can always count on Grandma to supply us with the baby novelty items that I usually forget to buy, like these "Big Sister/Little Sister" matching shirts. I think it might be the first matching clothing items these sisters have. Thanks for the cookies, the pie, the park fun, and just hanging out with us Grandma G. We can't wait to see you again.

Park Perfect

Nora loves going to the park for many reasons, the slides, wiggley bridges, open running spaces, a place to meet new friends and if Grandma takes her then it can't get any better. Today she had that blissful time away from parents with Grandma. There is though one of those favorite 'reasons' of Nora's that brings great concern to my husband and I. From all the excitement of the park Nora tends to like to find a secluded spot in the maze of bright colored jungle gym and do her duty. This always leads to frustration on our part and a park visit cut short which doesn't make Nora happy. We ventured today and let her go to the park in underwear attempting to help her on the pathway of potty training. There were no accidents. Success. Now we just need her to not hold it in while she's on the potty! Arghhh. I'm hoping this is short lived.

She's Arrived

My sweet niece, Ava, arrived in the world this past weekend. We are so happy for Amy and Tommy the proud parents. We are also happy they live in town so our girls can get to know their new cousin.

The proud parents couldn't be happier.

Look Alikes?

Spencer's mom just showed me this picture of Spencer's grandfather. We are thinking there might be a resemblence to our Aubrey. What do you think? Can you tell which is which?

Notepads

I'm in need of a notepad or note cards. When I need one I can't ever seem to find any paper around and have to end up using the back of an envelope or something. It would be nice to look at something pretty as I'm going through my day and checking things off my lists. I like the look of these letterpress note cards and the price isn't that bad either.

Happy Valentine's Day

Don't you remember the yummy candies that would accompany Valentine cards in grade school. I think I might go to the store today and pick me up some valentines with candy and go delivery some to friends. Have a happy Valentine's day.

My Valentine

The first year Spencer and I were married he stayed up the night before Valentine's day and made me this card. Talent in paper cutting runs in his family back to his great grandpa. I still can't believe it only took him a night to make this. It's something special. On the back he wrote some sweet nothings to me. I'll be holding on to this my whole life. I love my valentine.

Love Them

I just wanted to share some pictures of my girls during the blessing celebrations. They are just so cute. Nora's hair is finally getting longer and Aubrey is finally chunking up.

Blessed Child

My little nephew Benjamin had his blessing in church today. He is one of the most mellow babies I know. He makes it so easy to be around him. I loved his knit blessing outfit he wore. So far all the boys in his family have worn the same outfit. As you can see the food spread was pretty amazing too. All fun breakfast items. His mommy always goes all out for her children.

Privileged to Give

My mom had me read an article in Marriot Alumni Magazine about how being a giver in society will help make others happy and will also help you be happy as well as more rich in the end. A great read. Here is an exerpt:

I didn't believe them for the longest time. When you study economics you learn that you have to have money before you give it away. But every entrepreneur I've ever talked to said you've got to give it away before you can have it. John D. Rockefeller was famously quoted as saying in 1905, "God gave me my money to use as I see fit for the benefit of my fellow man." He believed that if he did not do so, God would take the money back. In other words, he thought he was rich because he gave.

I feel that I fall under the giver umbrella but I always feel I fall short in that area. This is a very thought provocative article, take a looksy here. Just scroll down to, "The Privilege of Giving." The picture is of Dr. Will who helped create the Mayo Clinic. He encouraged young people to find their vocations and make a contribution to society.

Warming Up the House

My sweet sister-in-law Stephanie will be putting on a housewarming party in a month or so. She called me up to brainstorm about what she should do. These were some ideas we came up with. To welcome quests and quide them to the door luminaries would line the entrance to the home. I like the idea of these reusable luminaries. To make it easy on her the main dishes of the night would be different types of soup with cheese bread. Which also plays on the whole house"warming" feel. She could prepare the soup ahead of time and freeze them until the morning of. The main decorations will be each nicely decorated room in the home but to bring in a color splash, fresh flowers would be strategicly placed around the house. As the quests leave they can take one of these cute info cards to stay in touch with her family. That's all we have so far. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Happy Birthday Stephen!

On the first of this month my brother Stephen had his 24th birthday. Here are a few things you may not know about him:

  • His nickname growing up was Beaver Steaver Cleaver Homer. Never sat well with him.
  • He went on a 3 week humanitarian project in Brazil to build a school for the local children.
  • He owns Las Vegas Book Keeping Co. and will soon be my boss, again.
  • Since high school he has lost a whopping 75 pounds and is looking great!

Happy Birthday Stephen. To show my love for my brother Spencer and I made him this cookie cake from scratch. It was our first attempt and it was a hit. Love you Stephen.
